Kite surfing: Golf Course Car Park, Borth Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 13-15 knots Surf / Sea State: 1 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 20ºC Sea Temperature: 16ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
What a lovely session. I first wandered across to the beach just before
midday and found a windsurfer from Shrewsbury sat in his car aiting for
wind. At that time it was blowing at about 3 knots from the NE. I told him
it would pick up soon but he didn't seem to believe me, so drove home.
Within seconds of him leving the wind swung right around to Southerly and
suddenly jumped to aout 8 knots. Within half an hour it was gettting
towards 15 knots, the sun was shining and there were white-caps all over
the water. Soon after that there was about 10 kites up off the point at
Ynyslas with their pilots kite-surfing around in the flat-water lagoon
there.
I chose to go out from the sea-front were it was a little quieter and there
were a few waves to play on. At first I was way-overpowered with my 11m
Wipika Free Air, but after depowering it loads it was just perfect. (Cheers
Paul for letting me have a snap-link shacke as well as my chcken loop
atachement had broken).
A few others came out from the Golf Course Car Park as well, and there were
quite a few people buggying and mountain-boarding on the beach too. The
weather was gorgeous, it was warm, the sun was shining and it felt like
summer again.
I stayed on the water until about 5pm. Once again just getting the hang of
blasting back and forth and doing some jumps. Good stuff.
